Talk to Yourself
Many thoughts, feelings, and concerns may float through your mind. Emotions such as anxiety, worry, frustration, and even depression may make it hard for you to avoid the temptation of cigarettes. So talk to yourself. Be your own best friend. Give yourself the vocal support you need to surmount these obstacles.
Say positive things to yourself. Reassure yourself that you can (and will) succeed. Remind yourself that you’re focusing on one day at a time. Tell yourself what you’ll do to deal with any obstacle that blocks your path.
Talk about problems. If you face a temptation, ask yourself, “What’s going on here?” Then follow with, “What can I do to beat this?” Suggest strategies to yourself, use Vapir Vaporizer and select the one that makes the most sense.
Avoid rationalizations. Don’t allow any excuse for smoking to sabotage your efforts. There can be no legitimate excuse for smoking-none! Squash any of these common rationalizations, such as, “One little cigarette can’t hurt me.” “I deserve a cigarette” “I’ll stop tomorrow.” “No one will know if I have one.” Or even, “I can’t take it any more. What’s the point?” The point is you’re an ex-smoker now. Keep it that way!
A very powerful way of talking to yourself involves projecting. In other words, ask yourself how you’ll feel in the near future if you do (versus don’t) smoke. For example, say to yourself, “If I have this cigarette now, will it really matter to me an hour from now?” Compare this to, “If I don’t have the cigarette, an hour from now I’ll know I’m still an ex-smoker!”
